WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will show an item's preview when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In  item upgrade Cases.gg  was altered a bit, with numerous new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less even in the event that they belong to another set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. They can use Flightstones which are a general upgrade currency that is accessible to all players, or crests that are more specialized and used to upgrade specific item levels. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that crests are only available for gear with a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them properly. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
